Saint Monica (Homily – August 27, 2025)

August 27, 2025 | Memorial of Saint Monica

Today’s homily is especially for parents and grandparents whose children or grandchildren have walked away from the Catholic faith. Like Saint Monica weeping for Augustine, you know the ache of watching a loved one wander. Today’s readings remind us that no one can outrun God’s mercy: our prayers, our tears, and our witness matter.

Key line: “Parents: you are not their saviors. You are God's intercessors. Your job is not to fix your children, but to entrust them again and again into the hands of Jesus.”
