Today’s feast draws us into the truth that God never abandons His temple. Judas Maccabeus purifies the sanctuary. Jesus restores it again when He calls the temple a house of prayer. In Mary, God prepares the living temple who will bear His Son. The same pattern continues in us. Through the Eucharist, He reorders what has grown scattered and restores the heart to worship.
“One quiet act of surrender can purify more than a hundred excuses.”

Today’s readings reveal the quiet battle inside every heart. Mattathias refuses to compromise his covenant, while Jesus weeps over a city that can no longer recognize the One who brings peace. The homily reflects on how pride, fear, and small compromises can harden the heart until grace becomes difficult to hear.“Grace speaks softly. Hardness drowns it out.”May Christ soften what has grown guarded within us.
Listen and pray with us as we ask for hearts that remain tender before the Lord.

Today we meet a mother whose courage steadies the entire battlefield of her life. Seven sons. One day. And she refuses to let fear tell the story. Jesus presses that same truth in the Gospel with the parable of the gold coins. The Kingdom does not grow when we bury what God gives. It grows when hope moves and acts.
This homily asks us to trust the God who raises the dead and to stop letting fear make our decisions for us. One key line: Hope is stronger than fear. It keeps the door open for God to work.

Today’s Gospel places Zacchaeus face to face with Christ’s mercy. Combined with Eleazar’s unshakable fidelity, the readings offer a clear path: courage that refuses compromise and conversion that refuses delay.
“If we cannot recognize Him hidden in the humble Eucharist, how will we recognize Him when He comes again in power and majesty?”
Homily by Rev. Korey R. LaVergne.

Today’s homily, When Fidelity Costs Something, looks at the quiet pressures that shape us before we know it. Israel in the Book of Maccabees blended in to avoid discomfort. The blind man in the Gospel cried out for mercy. One sought peace that was false. The other sought sight that was real. The key line that carries the whole message: Every Communion is a moment of clarity.
Listen as Fr. Korey reflects on the cost of fidelity and the courage needed to choose Christ when the pressure rises.

On the Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Gospel confronts us with a hard truth. Everything we lean on in this world will one day fall. Christ teaches His disciples not to panic or chase signs. He calls them to persevere in the midst of instability. Today’s homily reflects on Luke 21 and Saint Paul’s counsel to work quietly and stay faithful. The heart of the message is simple. Fear tries to rule us, but Christ the King steadies His people. One line to carry with you: “Only perseverance in Christ will secure your life.” Preached by Rev. Korey R. LaVergne at Saint Edward Catholic Church and Saint Thomas Mission Chapel.

God’s people have always cried out for justice. The Book of Wisdom shows the Lord’s powerful word racing into history to rescue Israel. Jesus takes that story and places it in our hands. He teaches that persevering prayer is not about forcing results. It is about keeping the heart alive with faith as we wait for God’s justice. The question beneath the Gospel is simple: when the Son of Man comes, will He find hearts that still cry out to Him.

Today’s Gospel warns about a danger we rarely notice: the quiet pull of distraction. Like the people in the days of Noah and Lot, we can become absorbed in good things without letting them guide us back to God. This homily invites us to recognize beauty as a doorway to the Creator rather than a resting place.“If creation moves your heart, what about the Creator?”Gospel: Luke 17:26–37

In today’s readings, Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God is not something you chase or observe from a distance. “The Kingdom of God is among you.” Wisdom 7 describes the Spirit who “passes into holy souls” and makes them “friends of God.” This homily explores how Christ’s presence is already working quietly in our lives, forming us through ordinary moments of patience, forgiveness, and fidelity.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus heals ten lepers. Only one returns in gratitude. That moment reveals the difference between authority that crushes and authority that kneels. The Book of Wisdom reminds us that every bit of influence we hold was given by God and will be judged by Him. At the altar we return like the Samaritan. We kneel before the One who cleanses us.“Authority becomes holy when it kneels.”
